The Value Of A Life

Admittedly, it is a challenge to sit here and not tear up as I think about my grandmother with whom I’ve been so close with all my life, recalling so many treasured moments with her. But now, even as I face losing her, I look forward to being to my own grandchildren what she was to me and I find myself contemplative. What makes one’s life valuable?

In The Presence Of The Majestic

I’ve heard people who have seen the Grand Canyon or other spectacular sights say things like, “Pictures don’t do it justice,” and now I know it’s true. Why? Because I saw with my own eyes. And even though my eyes beheld it, I’m not even sure that was doing it justice! The majesty of the Grand Canyon is that it commands respect. Respect by staying away from the edge because if you fall, you will surely not survive. The most accurate definition of majestic I found was in the Cambridge dictionary as this: *“having the quality of causing you to feel great admiration and  respect for it because of its size, power, or beauty”. And boy did it! Because we stayed there for hours just looking at it, never growing tired of staring at it,

Another Year Older (And Hopefully Wiser!)

The usually packed mall was empty. Super weird. It felt like we were living in an apocalyptic movie! I know you all have your stories that ring very similar to mine. Getting up and moving on after a major disappointment, facing your depression, getting help for that addiction, seeking professional counsel to save your marriage and your family, just to name a few, you can fill in the blank.

Deal With It!

Deal with it! Have you ever said that to anyone? At the very least, wanted to? Maybe as a parent or guardian you told your kid that after they’ve voiced their opposition to a decision you’ve made that affected their social life. Or, maybe as a rebellious teen you said that to a parent or guardian? Maybe you daydream about telling off…

The Giving Of Thanks

The gathering of those who are close to us and celebrating without the stress of gift buying and giving that goes along with Christmas is one of the reasons I love Thanksgiving. Now don’t get me wrong, I love Christmas too! It is my absolute favorite Holiday but there is something about the simplicity of Thanksgiving that holds great appeal for me. A day dedicated to giving thanks. No gifts necessary, just an attitude of gratitude.
